Long Lost

This poem is one that I wrote about experiencing pain in life and overcoming it. We often learn and grow from painful or unpleasant experiences, and that is what I had in mind while writing this.

A Man Pushing A Boulder Uphill

A depth drawn

By the lines of long lost,

In which I left a foot behind

Once upon a nightfall,

And once upon a night’s dream

I left a life behind

And trudged onwards

And into a New World ,

With one shackled ankle

And no memories in hand,

To wade in water and

To wade in land

Where the sand and

The stones

Might break my bones

To the beat

Of a hollowed, rainbowed drum —

To crawl along a path unpaved,

And to find oneself so lone

And alone,

Alone as before,

So Lone in this conquest

And a mighty gargantuan

Ton on my chest,

To heave on the mountain

When Eden’s only just in sight —

And to fall all at once

And to fall into light,

To fall into heaven

And to fall out of night,

To swim in waters

That danced me

Into a rosy, terracotta, evening sun —

A sun that caressed

My every breath

And with its softest warmth,

Every wound it dressed,

The Edenic gold it

Dripped into my soul

And salved it right

Up until it was whole —

Now I dance down this path

And I limp to this beat,

I sing the harmony

Of two whole feet.
